from april 11 to novembre 1, 2026
Symbol of speed, innovation and legend, the Formula 1 is invited to the Musée National de l’Automobile – Collection Schlumpf de Mulhouse, as part of a major exhibition.
Born in 1950, Formula 1 is at the same time a sports championship, a technological laboratory and a popular myth worldwide. It embodies more than 70 years of mechanical, aerodynamic and human innovations that have profoundly marked the history of the automobile and our relationship with performance, speed and technology.
From April 11 to November 1, 2026, discover the exhibition “Formula 1” at the National Automobile Museum – Schlumpf Collection.
The exhibition will present about fifty iconic cars, covering the entire history of Formula 1, from its origins to contemporary years.
Among the major periods addressed :
- The pioneers (1950s) : Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari – the heroic age of discipline.
- The 1960s–1970s : chassis revolution, rear engines, first major aerodynamic developments.
- The 1980s–1990s : era of turbo engines, technological domination, extreme professionalization.
- Modern Formula 1 : safety, hybridization, advanced aerodynamics and data.
Beyond the cars, the exhibition will present a selection of historical and symbolic objects, having belonged to all the greatest champions such as Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Max Verstappen and many others: helmets and suits, trophies, period documents (photographs, licences, correspondence), graphic elements and audiovisual devices from official archives.
These objects tell the story of drivers, engineers and teams and they replace cars in their sporting, technical and personal context.
A specific space will be dedicated to Juan Manuel Fangio, founding figure of Formula 1, through cars, documents and emblematic objects, in connection with the Museo Fangio / Fundación Fangio.
Discover how Formula 1 was built, why it still fascinates and what it has transformed the modern automobile.
